With only one week of class left, I can honestly say this semester flew by. This class actually ended up teaching me a lot more than I really expected it to do. And I like how everything we learned in some way all connected together, and it was so much easier to relate our papers back to the…

I definitely agree with you on that when you write a paper it is important to be interested in the topic you are researching because otherwise your probably not going to be motivated to write the paper at all.

The presentations for our projects that we had to do were actually pretty interesting and it was cool to see and learn about all the different topics that people chose to do for their paper. There was a definite variety with what has been shown in class and there are still my more presentations left to see and it will be interesting to see what else people have chosen to do their topic on. After all of the presentations are finished the last thing to do for the class is finishing and turning in the portfolio. I think that the portfolio is a good way to gather all of the work we did over the course of the semester into one place and I think that it is cool how you can kind of design the portfolio in whatever way you want. If I was to extend my paper I would probably add the way that through the internet Facebook, Google, etc. it can recognize your interests because you liked a certain product and that follows you everywhere you go on the internet. I would link that back to privacy, my main issue, and how anything you do on the internet is not really private because someone out there somewhere knows things about you and there is no real way to keep all of the information of yourself on the internet private.

After finally turning in the inquiry paper and looking back at it I think I did a pretty good job on it and the assignment was not that hard because over the course of the whole semester we gradually worked on it. By finding sources and writing the annotated bibliography on each source it helped me a lot with the transition into creating the research narrative and then going into the essay. I went though my paper and revised it multiple times after the peer revisions and the revisions seemed to help. I liked the process of this class and how everything led up to the inquiry essay. Since finishing the paper is over all we have left to do is the presentations and turning in our portfolios and then the class is over. It is really nice that this class does not have a final and that instead we just put most of our focus in to the paper and making it really good. Looking back at the class I can’t believe how fast it has gone by and that summer is really almost here. I feel like I learned interesting things from the topic of my essay and although I did know some about Facebook there were definitely some things that I did not know and ended up learning about. I knew that there was the idea that the amount of friends someone had affected them and the way they felt about themselves. I also knew that there was cyber bullying out there but one of the interesting things I did not really think about was how Facebook affected peoples romantic relationships. What I learned was interesting and I liked how we could pick any community we wanted for the topic of our essay.

The essay so far has been going pretty well. With only two weeks left until our final essay is due, it amazes me how quick the semester flew by. Seems like just yesterday we started this whole process, learning about communities, and choosing which one we wanted to use for ours. I am about five…

The semester is almost over but I am still a little confused about the presentations too. I’m sure she will go over it some more once we get closer to them. They are only about five minutes long so they should not be to hard. I’m only about five pages into the paper also but hope to get it finished and wrapped up in the next few days.

Hello again.

Well so far my inquiry paper is coming along pretty well, I don’t want to spoil anything so I won’t talk about it much. I will need to find more sources though. I need to find things that deal with other countries and dive a little further into history and trends. Doing the peer…

It is interesting that after looking at your peers own work throughout the revisions and seeing how that can influence what you do to your own paper. It makes you realize mistakes that you didn’t see before as well as just taking a second look at your paper.

Progress

The peer reviews has helped a great deal on the process of writing my paper. I can feel that I my writing has improved a lot from the help of peer reviews. I am actually progressing pretty well on my paper too. However, I do feel that I might still need to do more research on my paper. The more cites I have the more creditable my paper is anyways.

I definitely agree with you on the peer reviews helping a lot and how it helps to improve with our own writing.  I also see my own writing improving with all of the peer reviews and the whole revision process is a really good way to make papers better.

After looking at my paper and fixing some of the things that were wrong with it is already starting to sound better.  I still need to work on the first sentences on some of the paragraphs along with getting the last bit of my paper finished.  I am excited to get the paper finished and complete all the parts of it so everything ties together and sounds good.  Once it is finished it will be interesting to see how it sounds in comparison to how I started out when I first started writing it.  Looking back at the paper and seeing the transition between then and now and how I went through the process of writing my paper is interesting.  The semester only has a few weeks left and after the paper is due we have the little presentation on our topics at the end, which I think it could be interesting to learn about everyone in the classes topic.

Doing the peer revisions was really helpful and it was interesting to see your own work in comparison to others in your group.  When looking at other people’s papers I noticed differences in how we all started our papers and that our writing styles are all pretty different but there were some similarities in their work in comparison to mine as well.  How I feel about my inquiry paper is that so far I think it is heading in the right direction and I like where it is going although it still needs to be revised quite a bit and I still need to write the last few pages to complete the whole paper.  Revisions that I will need to do would be changing my introduction around some because through writing my paper I have gone off a little on the idea of just specifically Facebook privacy settings and have elaborated on the paper adding a few more things that are negative about Facebook.  This means I will have to change my thesis so that it makes more sense with the rest of my paper and it will be easier to do that when I have my papers body paragraphs complete.  The other main thing I need to fix would be some of the topic sentences to the body paragraphs that need work because I didn’t start with my own claim so I will be sure to do that because then it will be in the right format and sound better.  What I discovered about my own writing is that I like to start with my introduction paragraph because once I have a pretty good introduction I feel like it is easier for me to continue and write my body paragraphs.  Then I go back to the introduction after I have finished the whole paper to update the thesis and revise the beginning if as I have been writing the paper some things have changed.  What I learned about the writing process is that it is always good to go back to the beginning paragraph and thesis to make sure while you are writing the rest of your paper you are staying on track and not going off topic.

Yeah sorry about posting only in chunks, I end up procrastinating too much and have to do it all at once.

So yeah I started writing my paper and found it fairly easy so far, the hardest part for me is starting. Once I get going writing is generally not too hard. Now that I have a better idea of…

Talking out your paper like your explaining it to someone is a pretty good idea for writing a paper or if your just stuck on a certain part of the paper. Then later going through it and fixing the format and making sure the flow of it is smooth. That was a good tip and I’ll probably end up using it.

Wow, this essay is coming up quick! I signed up for the third peer review, so i need to start writing, i have 6 pages that need to be done pretty soon. Im worried i wont have enough to write about though. The body paragraphs should be the easiest part, but its really only my into that i am feeling confident in at the moment. As i starting writing i will see, it should not be as bad as i am making it. hopefully!

I signed up for the third peer response too and still have a little way until I reach the six pages. I agree that the body paragraphs should be the easiest part of the whole paper because in class we have already done a lot of research on our topics so you should be fine. Good luck on your paper!
